A 25 minute 'hop' from Glasgow to Campbeltown airport, twice daily during the week. From 26 October 2008, service is by Flybe, operated by Loganair. Photographic ID is required.
Car rental is available in Campbeltown, but not at the airport which is very small. Usually the car rental companies will arrange to meet you at the airport with your car. There are also plenty of Taxis available in Campbeltown - approx. cost to our cottages - £3.
From Glasgow to Campbeltown - www.citylink.co.uk
This will take approx. 3 hours from Glasgow with some of the most beautiful scenery on route!
Take the A82 out of Glasgow, past Loch Lomond and change onto the A83 at Tarbert. Follow the A83 past Inveraray, down Loch Fyne, through Lochgilphead and on to Tarbert, then another 37 miles down the Mull of Kintyre which will take you all the way to Campbeltown and then onto Kildalloig Estate.
2 major routes lead to this region. Coming from Glasgow/Greenock you have the choice of following the A78 south to Ardrossan and take a ferry to Brodick on the Isle of Arran. Turn right and follow the A841 to Lochranza, here you take another ferry to Claonaig. Follow the B842 south via Carradale to get to Campbeltown and the Mull of Kintyre. This route includes single track roads and is unsuitable if you are in a hurry. Please note that the ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick should be booked in advance.
Alternatively you can use the ferry from Gourock (follow A87 from Greenock in west direction) to Dunoon, turn right and follow A815 north. In Sandbank turn left to Tighnabruiach. Follow the A8003 south to Portavadie, take the ferry over to Tarbert. Stay on the A83 along the coast until you reach Campbeltown. This is the main road and allows faster travel.
Trains do not come to the Mull of Kintyre.
